MANILA – An additional 20 lanes will be constructed in select Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) toll plazas for speedy toll transactions during peak hours and holidays, the NLEX Corp. said Wednesday.
The Clark North, Clark South, San Miguel, Bamban and Tarlac toll plazas are among areas covered by the capacity expansion project, it said in a statement.
One new toll lane each will be built at the Clark North entry and exit points and the Clark South B exit, while 2 new toll lanes will be added at the Clark South A exit and Tarlac entry and exit to cater to the growing number of motorists travelling in the area, the statement said.
Two lanes each will be constructed at the San Miguel northbound entry and southbound exit, and another one at the northbound exit. The San Miguel stop will also be converted into a full interchange to increase capacity, the toll operator said.
The Bamban interchange, set to open soon, will have 3 entry and 3 exit lanes, NLEX Corp. said.
“The additional toll lanes will help improve SCTEX’s connectivity in its areas, particularly in Clark, which is being positioned as Asia’s next aerotropolis and investment center,” said NLEX Corp. president and general manager Luigi Bautista.
The NLEX and SCTEX are expressways linking Metro Manila to Northern and Central Luzon.
