MANILA, Philippines – Arellano University pulled through in the first two sets, then rolled past a fading Adamson University in the third to win Game 1 of their best-of-3 series for the bronze medal in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference.

The Lady Chiefs, reigning NCAA champions, showed their poise in a 25-23, 26-24, 25-14 win over the undermanned Lady Falcons on Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

With the victory, Arellano is now just one win away from a bronze medal in the collegiate tilt.

Skipper Jovielyn Prado hammered in 13 attack points and finished with 18 markers while Regine Arocha and Necole Ebuen combined for 25 hits as the Lady Chiefs overcame the Lady Falcons, who lost their composure in the third.

Adamson has now lost three consecutive matches since sweeping the group stage. They dropped two straight to Far Eastern University in the semifinals in the absence of injured skipper Jema Galanza.

Joy Dacoron led Adamson with nine points while Christine Soyud struggled for just seven hits, the same output put in by rookie Chiara Permentilla.
