The Philippines has been eliminated from medal contention in the 2018 Asian Games softball competition following a 6-3 loss to Chinese-Taipei in Jakarta on Thursday.

Chinese-Taipei will take on China in a playoff to determine which country will play Japan in the gold-medal game.

Japan advanced to the final by beating China 5-0 Thursday afternoon.

The Blu Girls' loss came some 24 hours after they lost 3-2 in heartbreaking fashion to Chinese-Taipei.

The Filipinas would have been assured a bronze had they beaten the same squad on Wednesday, but they now leave the Games with a fourth-place finish.
