Gina Iniong has learned her lessons from her recent defeat, and she hopes to show an improved game when she takes on Chinese-Taipei’s Jenny Huang in ONE: Heroes of Honor on April 20.
Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao said Iniong’s painful unanimous decision loss to Mei Yamaguchi forced her to reassess her capabilities.
The coach said the team has been working extensively on Iniong’s ground fighting skills, especially as Huang is known to be a highly skilled grappler herself.
Iniong wants to beat Huang to prove herself worthy of a shot against the winner between Yamaguchi and reigning women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee, who are set to clash in May.
But beating Huang won’t be easy, as the Taiwanese fighter also wants to return to the women’s atomweight title picture.
“In order to achieve that, I need to build a momentum with a huge win,” she said in a previous report.
