MANILA, Philippines – Robbie Manalang dropped a conference-high 40 points to guide AMA Online Education to a 96-93 triumph over Batangas-Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup on Monday at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

It was the Titans’ first win of the conference after losing three straight games to open their campaign.

The Fil-Am guard from Adamson University knocked down eight of his 16 attempts from beyond the arc to help the Titans survive a late flurry from the Generals.

James Martinez had 18 points in his return to AMA, Genmar Bragais added 17 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and Rocky Antonares chipped in a double-double of 12 markers and 12 boards.

Coach Mark Herrera also paraded Arvin Tolentino and Kyles Lao as his new recruits in the game.

“Kumuha tayo ng scorers. Walang umiiskor bukod kay Robbie these last games eh. At least ngayon, may iba tayong option,” said Herrera.

AMA jumped to a 12-0 lead to start the game and was up by as much as 28, 54-26, early in the third period.

But Batangas-EAC refused to fold with the trio of Cedric de Joya, Cedric Ablaza, and Jerome Garcia helping the Generals claw their way back. They got to within two points, 95-93, with still 11 seconds left to play.

Unfortunately for Batangas-EAC, Earvin Mendoza and Garcia both botched potential game-winning three-pointers in the closing seconds.

The Titans improved to 1-3, while sending the Generals to 0-4 in the conference.

De Joya topscored for Batangas-EAC with 21 points, Ablaza
