After 4 losses, Rain Or Shine finally nailed a win in the PBA Governors' Cup.
The Elasto Painters pulled off an upset against Barangay Ginebra with a 104-97 victory at a jampacked Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City on Saturday.
But Rain Or Shine nearly squandered a 19-point lead when the defending chmpions rallied in the fourth quarter and pulled to within 101-97 with 2:54 to go.
Fortunately Gabe Norwood buried a dagger 3-pointer and Rain Or Shine made crucial stops to prevent Ginebra from completing a comeback.
Terrence Watson had 29 points, 19 rebounds and 6 blocks, while Jewel Ponferada added 18 points to lead the Elasto Painters, whose win gave them a 1-4 record and allowed them to jump past Meralco (1-6) at the bottom of the standings.
Columbian Dyip (0-8) remains the only winless team.
With the win, the Elasto Painters snapped the Kings' 4-game winning streak.
Ginebra, led by Justin Brownlee's 23 points, fell to 7-2.
The Kings dropped to No. 3 in the standings and lost the No. 1 spot to Magnolia (6-1).
