MANILA — Actress Crisel Consunji continues to make the Philippines proud after winning at the prestigious Hong Kong Film Awards (HKFA).
Consunji bagged the Best New Performer award for her performance in the movie “Still Human.”
“It seems to tell the world that in Hong Kong, when we celebrate our diversity, we move forward together,” she said in her acceptance speech.
She also thanked those who shared their stories to her for the film.
“Thank you to all the women who bravely shared with me their stories. Kayo ay mga bagong bayani. You are modern heroes. Ang karangalang ito ay para sa inyo. Maraming salamat. Thank you very much,” she said.
Consunji was also nominated for the Best Actress category, also for “Still Human.”
Based on its official trailer, the movie is about a paralyzed divorcee Cheong-wing (Anthony Wong) who is in need of a caregiver.
He later employs a young Filipino woman Evelyn (Consunji), who gives up her dream of becoming a photographer so she could go to Hong Kong as a domestic helper and earn a living.
