Robredo’s Independence Day message: Fight for equal opportunities for all Filipinos

MANILA – Vice President Leni Robredo on Wednesday called on the public to champion equal opportunities for all Filipinos and draw inspiration from forebears who fought for the country’s freedom from colonizers 121 years ago.

In establishing their own government, Filipinos aimed for a society where everyone would have an opportunity to live prosperously and peacefully, said Robredo in her Independence Day message.

(Until this day, this responsibility falls on each of us. Those who came before us fought for this and this is the responsibility left to us: ensure that we live in a Philippines where each citizen is being uplifted.)

(As public servants, this dream is our responsibility: that no Filipino would be left behind and that everyone would have an equal opportunity to prosper.)

Duterte, meanwhile, will mark the occasion at a military camp in Lanao Del Sur province later Wednesday, Malacañang earlier said.

The anniversary of the Philippines’ declaration of independence from Spain is a regular holiday.
