SLEX traffic ‘super smooth’ with more lanes open: San Miguel’s Ang

MANILA — Traffic flow in Alabang south of the capital has been “super smooth” since the opening of additional lanes on the South Luzon Expressway, San Miguel Corp President Ramon Ang said Monday.

San Miguel is building the Skyway extension, where a third northbound lane and a new 2-lane ramp connecting the Alabang viaduct to the elevated highway opened Sunday.

The 180-meter steel ramp has a capacity of 5,000 vehicles per hour and can be assigned for southbound or northbound use, depending on where traffic is heavier, said Ang.

“Wala nang slowdown [ng] traffic sa lugar na iyon. Inalis natin lahat ng tinga, inalis natin lahat ng bara. Super smooth na iyong lugar na iyan,” he told radio DZMM.

(There’s no longer any traffic slowdown in that area. We removed all the obstruction. That area is already super smooth.)

The P10-billion Skyway extension, scheduled for completion in December next year, will extend the elevated highway to SLEX near Susana Heights and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway from Alabang.

Ang earlier apologized to the public for further traffic congestion caused by the Skyway construction.
