'The Voice Teens': Mica Becerro hits whistle tone, books place in finals

Lea Salonga will be betting on a young artist from Surigao del Norte to bring home the first-ever “The Voice Teens” title for her team next week.

On Saturday’s episode, it was revealed that Mica Becerro got more votes from viewers than teammate and rival Chan Millanes. She also received a higher judges’ score of 95, five points higher than Millanes.

Becerro, a classically trained singer, wowed as she effortlessly pulled off the whistle tones of Minnie Riperton’s classic, “Lovin’ You.”

“Ang maganda dito ay mayroon kang ipinakitang iba,” Salonga told her. “Kasi nasanay na kami sa classical mong boses and you showed us pop.”

Millanes sang Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You.” His ouster meant that Becerro will be Salonga’s representative in the show’s grand finals.
