TNT's Troy Rosario unsure of when he can return to PBA action

MANILA, Philippines – TNT forward Troy Rosario could only watch from their team’s bench as the KaTropa were hammered by Barangay Ginebra, 93-78, in their PBA Philippine Cup showdown on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Rosario was advised to rest by his doctors following a scary fall against Phoenix last Wednesday, which saw his head bounce off the court at the Mall of Asia Arena. While he did not sustain any fracture, he did get a wound on his chin and was clearly shaken up by the incident.

Thus, the KaTropa were forced to play without the athletic forward, who is averaging 12.5 points and 10.4 rebounds in the All-Filipino Conference. Without him, Ginebra’s Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar had a field day inside the paint, and the Gin Kings finished with a 56-43 rebounding advantage.

“Siyempre, masakit,” Rosario said after the game.

So as soon as possible, gusto ko na bumalik.”

However, Rosario admits that the date of his return is out of his hands. Even if he no longer feels dizzy, he still has to go through more check-ups on Monday.

Unti-unti ‘yun eh. ‘Yun ‘yung sabi ng doctor,” he added.

“Pero ewan ko, baka magbago bukas.”

Given this, Rosario will almost certainly not play on Wednesday, when TNT takes on GlobalPort at the Araneta Coliseum. He is also unsure if he can play for Gilas Pilipinas when they compete in the second window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

He is not even sure if he can attend the national team’s practice on Monday.
