MANILA – Classes in all levels, in both public and private schools, have been suspended in Cotabato City following the magnitude 5.9 earthquake that hit the province of Bukidnon Monday night.
Mayor Cynthia Sayadi, in a Facebook video, said she is suspending classes in all levels in the city to give way to the inspection of school buildings.
Classes in all levels have also been suspended in the municipality of Quezon in Bukidnon to allow inspectors to assess the safety of school buildings.
The earthquake struck at 9:22 p.m. at about 6 kilometers northwest of Kadingilan town.
It was felt at intensity 5 in Kidapawan City, and at intensity 4 in Davao City and Cotabato City.
In October, a string of powerful temblors struck Mindanao, leaving several dead, dozens hurt, and houses and buildings destroyed or damaged.
